A couple of news reports yesterday sparked DH's interest in discussing drugs, drinking and smoking with our 9 year old DS over dinner last night. We've discussed bullying and suicide before, and he still remembers the conversation. We try not to make any topic taboo.

Have you or are you planning on having these discussions with your children? What points do you like to hit? What approach do you take?

Drugs have always been discussed in our house from a very young age with the children, age appropriate information but it starts with giving calpol, creams, vaccinations, plasters etc.
