My DS (4) has to make an Easter bonnet for a hat parade during the Easter festivities at school next week.

Anyone got any creative ideas for a masculine bonnet? I'm really stuck and can only think of girlie things to do. We haven't got a hat to work from so will be making it from scratch.......

Lol yep I know what you mean about parents getting homework but to be honest I miss this now Ds is older. We would have discussed what he thought Easter was, what it meant to him and then what it meant to others maybe adults not so into choc eggs (kidding). We would have worked together and enjoyed spending time together. Regarding the hat, I would have made a birds nest, just grass and twigs and stuff in a nest shape, maybe real blown eggs we decorated and some sort of bird if I could find one, or draw 2 identical outlines of a bird and make it 3D. Good luck to your DS.

Thanks Wuffles, I managed to find a design on ehow.com in the end - a paper plate crown. Its basically a big cirlce of card with segments cut in the middle (like a pizza) then pushed through to make a crown. Then i've cut egg shapes out of different coloured card, my DS is decorating them now with glitter glue and stickers and then we're going to stick them to each point of the crown. Might add some of those fluffy chicks to the rim to complete it! Really easy to make if anyone needs inspiration for Easter:)
