awww poor Bruno. I wish i could take him, really miss my dog but im due to "drop" a baby in a week so not practical right now. Hope he finds a home soon and shame on the "owners" who have obviously just dumped him and used giving to a cousin as an excuse!! Report them!! Well done animaltreasure for taking him in and looking after him

Thank you for the offer of a donation DubaiCat, but don't worry I will cover it. Just want him to put a bit of weight on before the op. He is actually pretty skinny, doesn't look too bad in his photos because of his fur. The "owner" won't even answer his phone now, the clinic spoke to him once and couldn't get hold of him again. The clinic asked him to ring back within the hour but we have heard nothing since. In any case, I would not want him to have the dog back now in these circumstances. Will tell DM as I spoke to them this morning about the dog, but not sure what they will do. I don't want them to force the owner to take the dog back, he is better off finding a decent home. Would be nice if they fined him but sceptical that will happen. Really really sad for the pooch; had our neighbours in Springs torture their pet too..keep outdoors in heat and then abondon, upon reporting to DM they tried to chase it up with the neighbours...no fines but the last option was to put the dog to sleep! He is now homed with one of my frnds as I already had 3 rescued ones!! U are such an angel...u really are and world is a better living place for people like you... will try to send his pic around if any of my frnds can home him...fingers crossed.

Poor pooch. At the very least the municipality should fine the owner for abandoning him. Worth a try.

He looks like a saluki cross. In which case he probably won't get very fat at all.

I so wish they would. How anyone can consider an animal disposable in this way is despicable. Surely it's worth reporting them?

why oh why can we not report these people who abandon their dogs to the police. Wait a minute, I think we can....if someone knowingly abandons their animal, they can be charged. Does he now have a name at least to take with him? edited by SueB on 09/03/2011 This could well be a case for the DM to chase up.

I don't think I can post what I want to without it being censored. People like this make me so angry I could literally scream. Can you post their number on here? Then we can take turns calling them every half an hour for the next six months to let them know what utter, utter pond life they are. ETA: I'm happy to pass on a little donation if you wanted to get him neutered before he finds a family. edited by DubaiCat on 09/03/2011

Yes, he is called Bruno. Here are some pictures of him: [url=http://s1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd507/AnimalTreasuresGallery/Bruno%20needs%20a%20home/'>link[/url'> He is now at a foster home until Wednesday, I just hope I can find him a home before then, otherwise he will have to go back in my store room until I find a home for him. At least he is living with a family now. I am hoping they fall in love with him and don't want to give him up. edited by animaltreasure on 09/03/2011

Have now located the owner through the clinic where the dog was registered, the veterinary clinic called him and it seems he gave the dog to a cousin and nobody wants the dog back. They won't answer my calls, or the clinics now. Poor dog:( Well now he will need a good home, my husband is putting his foot down that we can't keep him. My cats probably would also have issues. Will take some good photos and post them later. So sad people think animals can be just be abandoned when they don't want them anymore.

No it was an old bit of cord, nothing quite as nice as a neckerchief. Now on closer inspection have found out he is a full male, not neutered. He is great with children, walked happily with my five year old. He is totally adorable. Thanks SueB will try Aniworld.

Shampooch put the neckerchiefs on the dogs after they have been groomed. Not sure if anywhere else use them.

When you say 'fabric tie round her neck', do you mean one of those cowboy-style neckerchief things? I met a lady whose dog was wearing one of those the other day and apparently the groomers put it on. I can't remember the name but it might be worth sending the photo to the groomers to see if they recognise him? Someone must know which groomers does this!

Yes she has a chip, am trying to trace it. Have spoken to municipality and they are checking their records, also calling all the vets. Her personality is as lovely as her looks, so someone must be missing her.
