I've read a lot of threads on how to get a health card for your maid, but there seem to be some inconsistencies on where you can get one and where you can't (plus places changing their mind...oh how I love Dubai!).

I'd be be v grateful if anyone has done this recently and can update me. It seems from the threads that Al Wasl and Iranian hospitals are the safest bet...can anyone help?

Also what happens when her visa is renewed?

So it's worth the hassle getting this card and paying for it? (cost I think 300 dhs plus perhaps medical of 200 dhs..this is from government website so not sure how up-to-date this info is)

To update you on this, I've been down to Satwa clinic today for my maid to have her follow-up Hep B vaccination. I asked 3 people working there if the Health Card was still necessary, and the response was that it is now optional. If the maid gets sick, she needs to go to a government hospital and pay the charge, Health Card or not. Does anybody know if there is any benefit then in now getting a Health Card? bump I've got same question

Hi, I was told that the health card is not necessary anymore, since the prices to be paid by the patients are the same, with or without the health card.

If you get one from the Rashid Hospital, they will give your maid the right to use the closest peripheral clinic to your residence. Since it will be a DHMS card, she will be covered by all of their hospitals. If she needed Gynae treatment and no OBGYN was available at the local clinic, then she would be given an appt for Al Wasl....etc etc
