Hiya i am wondering if there are any personal trainers on here that could give me some advice to target my stomach. I have recently gone from a uk 14 to a 8/10 and am really happy with my weightloss which i did purely through walking everyday and cutting out wheat. However i am just not happpy with my stomach still a little bit of a muffin top going on i am doing sit ups on a gym ball but still a layer of fat hiding my abs!! I don't want to lose any more weight as my legs are really thin now and its just my stomach that is the problem. I had a baby 2.5 yrs ago so i know that doesn't exactly help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
TIA

As they say 'abs are made in the kitchen, not in the gym'. Sadly some of us are just apple shaped and it's extremely difficult to target that area as we naturally store our fat there. So you need to reduce eating the things that cause fat retention in that area. You need exercises that target your core muscles. Just sit ups is not going to do much, you need crunches, reverse crunches and side crunches, you need to work all the muscles in that area, plus get some cardio going to encourage fat burn. But mainly it's going to be down to what you're eating I'm afraid. I have this exact same problem, I've just resigned myself to the fact that I will never have a flat tummy. edited by Chocs01 on 26/03/2011
