I renewed my car registeration the other day, and was told I had over 400 DHS worth of SALIK fines, I had to pay even though I knew my account was in credit all year. Went home to check my account on SALIK website and true enough it is clearly in credit.

Now I will need to waste a morning making a claim at the RTA office! I wanted to check has anyone else experienced the same thing? Was their claim to have money returned successful and how long did the process take? Most annoying....

I had the same issue for dhs 600. I went to the registration place in al ghusais to file a complain, then got an sms advising me the claim was genuine and I would get a refund and then nothing...I had to call them to be informed they needed some documentation faxed then nothing again, Finally after several calls I was informed my cheque was ready for collection at the RTA place in Rashidya. This was the mess as no one in the building had a clue where the office was. I got the right information from a cleaner. The entire process took 2 month

We went through it. We were incorrectly fined 2200. We filed a complaint online. We then called them with our complaint file nr. They informed us that 2200 would be repaid to us as there must of been a glitch somewhere. Its been 2 years and we still havent seen a cent. Will be going again next week to nag and moan at their offices :(

They do refund the money but it took them almost 18months to do it. It might not be so bad now as they may have sorted out their system.

I also complained for a Salik fine I didn't have, it was 300 dhs. they corrected it, but I managed to catch their mistake before the registration so didn't have to pay. I heard it takes a long time to get your money back if you pay for it..
