Issues with Kitty and children
Hi,
We adopted a stray female cat about 4 months ago (she is now 6 to 7 months old). The problem that we have been having with her since been adopted is that she doesn’t get well with my small children, even though they are generally gentle with her. She keeps hissing to them when they get close to her and this morning she scratched the face of one of my daughters. I have explained to the cat that this is not right, and carry the cat and let my daughters pet her gently and she is ok, but as soon I move out and let the cat with the children she keeps hissing to them, to the extent that I have to move the cat to the terrace few days ago when children came for a play date.
The cat is fine with adults, she likes occasional to be petted, but not much to be carried.
I have been talked to friends with cats and some said that she will eventually get use to the children and others said that if she is not child friendly she will never be, Any advice?
My husband said that he won’t tolerate the behaviour of the cat one more time, and suggested that we find a new home for her or trow her to the street (he was very upset this morning when the cat scratched my daughter!). Seems to him that the cat only comes to us when she wants food!.
We live in a villa and she has access to the garden and to the house, but lately when the girls are home I am trying to keep the cat in the garden to avoid more drama.
I will appreciate your comments or advice.
Thanks
