@mejane - I'm glad you enjoyed your meal but we most certainly didn't. We could have had lunch at Rivington Grill (minus booze) for a similar price, with a good view, an excellent children's menu and exemplary service....
@AmyAus82 - I think I am in the minority in that my beer pockets champagne taste 10 year old doesn't like McD's which can be incredibly frustrating sometimes! Her favourite foods are laksa, fois gras and sri lankan (not indian mummy!) dhal....
It had a very good review in Time Out last week, so we went there on the weekend. Enjoyed the meal, the service was good and liked the decor.
The reason the walls are high although I remember them as being trellis, is I imagine because of the rule that you
can't drink alcohol in public view. Their licence is being put through by the Intercontinental they told us.
We went there last Friday and I have to say were seriously disappointed by the place. We sat outside, the seats where uncomfortable (very low backs similar to sitting at a parent/teacher meeting in KG1!), no view of the canal due to the high walls and they had those misting fans running which I personally don't like although in the summer I guess they are useful but not really required at the moment.
Food-wise, my daughter had an italian take on nachos - this turned out to be the highlight of the meal - good spicy salsa and crispy raviolis to dip. Husband and I shared a dip platter and some bruschetta - all okay but a somewhat bland. For mains my daughter had an arrabiatta which was supposed to be very hot but wasn't. I had the 6 hour lamb bolognese - bland. My husband had the spaghetti vongole (sp?) and chipped a tooth on his first bite - the clams hadn't been prepped properly and were full of grit/sand. He sent his dish back and re-ordered the truffle tagliatelle - again bland with minimal truffle taste. The pasta however was lovely - very obviously made on the premises and cooked well.
The restaurant manager came and spoke to us and, to be fair, was very professional and apologetic and offered us free desserts and coffee. The deserts were nice but nothing special. They have not received the booze licence yet and this must make cooking items such as tiramisu, vongole, bolognese etc rather challenging.
We weren't offered a children's menu - our daughter is 10 but that's not to say there wasn't one - we didn't ask and I'm sure that they could modifiy a lot of the adult dishes to suit a younger child's palate.
Bottom line is that we wouldn't go back - it was a disappointing and even with free desserts and coffee the bill came to just short of 400 dhs for three.
Hi was looking to go to jamies restaurant this weekend has anyone been there and is it easy to get a table?
Also would you think it is suitable for young children I dont want to spend a fortune for them to push their plates away again.
