Hi ladies, I need urgent advice please. My son has been offered places in JAPS and WIS to join year 1. He's a very good learner & has been identified as gifted & talented at his current school. He needs some extra support to keep him progressing at his own pace.

JAPS seems to be a lovely small school and would be my 1st choice if not because of the new location near Remraam. I also hear good things about WIS and the location is very convenient but it feels a little 'cold' (if that makes sense) compared to JAPS. Also I assume not for profit is better in terms of value and quality of education.

Would really appreciate your views on these 2 schools. Thanks!

If you've been offered a place at JAPS, grab it with both hands, having experienced both schools you mentioned you won't be disappointed. DM, you said you have experienced both schools. Would you mind sharing with me what are the positives and negatives of both schools, from your experience? Thanks!

Thank you for the replies, much appreciated. I have also asked around and most, including teachers, recommended JAPS. The commute will be a challenge so we may consider moving closer to the school. They are confident that the building will be completed on time so hopefully it will. Oh, so hard to decide when it comes to schools! Most likely we'll go for JAPS, which has been my favourite from the beginning anyway, unless something changes in the next couple of days!

Depends on what year group. JAPS is new for year 7 and has introduced a seat fee. For that year, I'd go Wellington. Especially because there is no guarantee that JAPS new campus will be finished - and it's guaranteed to have on-going construction regardless. Has anyone seen how much progress has been made? OP's son has been offered space in year 1.

JAPS with a brand new campus would be a bonus. Right now it's current tired old campus is not doing it any justice. Go for JAPS.
