Hello All,
We are going to be moving to Dubai this September and our children got accepted to JESS Arabian Ranches. We are quite new to Dubai and had only a chance to quickly visit AR and JGE during our short visit back in March. We are in the process of looking for a Villa to rent and I wonder if we should choose AR or JGE?

Looking at the comments on line, it seems AR is a great community and very popular with expat families which I think is great specially for our children of age 17,1 3 and 9. However, the villa's in JGE seems bigger and very nice and newer than AR. So I am wondering how the community life is in JGE and if we should also consider this area...

Any comment and insights will be very helpful. I am quite excited to make the move.

You are most welcome....In case JESS is totally full for your children, you can try Nord Anglia and/or Arcadia that are within 15mins of drive to AR. We had equally positive experiences with both schools as we applied to more than one school. The only thing is that Arcadia is only up to Year 6 (grade 5 in American system) for now...They will be expanding in the next two years.

Thanks Ambrosia, appreciate your reply - we literally have only found out we're moving less than a week ago, so it's a lot to take in and work out schools that will suit, and then if even availability. JESS AR just looked out of the question for us by their waitlists though, but its great you got through the assessments already and meeting in person too. Thanks again !

Casa and Palma were the first two communities finished in AR2 and the Casa villas are 2+ years old now .... plenty of communal greenery. Lots of families here, communal play areas and pools that are easy to access wherever you live. Shops, restaurants and a fitness first gym. For us it has a great balance of being quiet but near everything we need. We used House Hunters as our agent and can highly recommend them, they are not just interested in a fast buck but helped and advised us throughout the whole moving process. Whether the villa is landscaped will be down to the individual landlord but we have a manageable size garden with well established grass, plants and shrubs, they cost a lot in water but worth it :)

Hi expat472749. Yes, JESS AR is a very popular school and indeed they have waiting lists. The admissions process is a long process and we were on their waiting list for a while until we finally were contacted by the school. I am not sure if by now they have concluded their admissions for 2018 but I recommend that you call the admissions office and try to talk to them in person. They will let you know if there is any chance at all for the year group that you are interested in. There is a fee for applying as you may know, depending on your interest level in the school you might consider to apply anyway and take your chances. This is what we did...It was also helpful that our kids did well in their assessment tests and the school got to meet them in person. I wish you luck both with the school search and the move :)-

Hi Ranstone. Thanks for letting me know about AR2. I originally didnt consider it since I thought it is too new,.but certainly the Villas seem much nicer than AR1. Can you kindly tell me how is the community feel in AR2? And also if your Villa has land escaping? It seems that since the community is very new, there is very little greenery...But that is just what I have seen from the pictures online. I might be totally wrong as we didnt visit the area in person on our last visit. Also did you use an agent to rent the villa? and if you can recommend your agent I would appreciate it very much. RATE IT

Hi there, we are also looking to move to Dubai around the same timing - but firstly busy with quickly researching schools. Can I ask, were you already on a waiting list at JESS Arabian Ranches ? Because when I looked at their website it shows Full for every year level and huge waiting lists including future years! But would love if we can manage schooling to be not too far from where we end up living. Thanks :)

Worth considering Arabian Ranches 2 ...... just a short school run ..... lots of new Villas just been released and quite a few 1-2 years old on the market ..... the amount of new properties is keeping the rents at a sensible level due to competition between landlords. We considered AR1 but were put off by the age of some villas and potential maintenance problems. We chose AR2 and don’t regret at all.
