Can anyone clarify the latest health care requirement for housemaids?
We do provide health insurance for our maid as is required by law. My question is, are we also required by law to pay for their deductibles, medication, and any procedure that is not covered under that insurance? I ask because our maid decided on her own to go to a doctor that is not covered through her health plan because her friend told her it is her employers responsibility to pay for all her health care. She had not let us know about any issues she was having and we explained to her that now those charges she incurred will not go against her deductible and since we were not notified we don't feel obligated to pay as using an approved doctor would have been the responsible thing to do. It just also brought the question to mind about what our is our responsibility. The law is clear on providing health insurance but not so clear on the rest.

You are responsible for providing insurance which you have done. She is responsible for herself beyond that.
