Maid's contract renewal and holiday - how does it work?

Hi,
This might seem like a stupid question, but in which order do you do it? Our maid's contract is up on 15 May, and she would like to go home for her month holiday. Do we send her on the holiday and then renew her contract when she comes back in June, or do we have to renew before she leaves in May? (she will be leaving right about the 15th of May for her holiday, same time as her contract is due to be renewed). Anyone know how it's supposed to be done? Thanks!
