Dear all,

Can anyone recommend a good marriage counsellor in Dubai?
Does anyone have any experience with couples therapy?

Thanks.

There is a family therapist in Dubai, and she is super affordable. We paid 280 a session. We were referred through the school for our son, my husband I saw her briefly too. She was quite good. Her email is [email protected]. Hope that helps :)

My husband and I went to see Dr. Dema at HRI a while back and she was excellent for us. Not sure if she still works there but hope it is not too late for you to find her and she is most qualified. Hope this helps.

Celticcavegirl, thanks, your recommendation of Farah Lodi was a good one, my friend had a good phone consultation and scheduled an appointment this week. In case anyone needs a female psychologist Linda Sakr at Dubai Community Health Center was also well recommended, but unfortunately couldn't get a quick appointment.

Sure - her name is Farah Lodi. Not sure I'm allowed to put phone numbers on here but you can find her on linked in or on facebook with her company name - Moving Forward Counselling Services

celticcavegirl, can you give the contact details of the female counselor you liked? A close friend is in need of marital counseling, but her husband refuses to go so she will go on her own but prefers a female.

Keith Swan is a male counsellor operating out of LifeWorks, but I don't know anyone who has seen him. I do know he takes appointments in the evening and weekends. They have quite detailed descriptions of their counsellors and areas of practice on the Lifeworks website, which might be helpful. FFx

The Dubai court offers marriage intervention counselling. I believe it is a very good service but unsure whether available for everyone or only Muslims. I do believe it is available for all nationalities. It would be worth investigating.

I went to couples therapy. It was helpful in some ways but one of the major issues was that the counselor was a woman, and I liked her, but my fiance felt "ganged up on" by two women and that she saw my perspective better than his. Although it's perfectly possible he would have felt the same with a man, I don't know (most of the issues were on his side)
