i'm in such a fix... wonderin if anyone out there is in a similar situation or can help...

i found a highly recommended nepali maid (who was working for a family here for 8 years) and is currently in Nepal... got her housemaid visa processed through the DNRD and have all the legal documents such as contract, health insurance, etc... and sent this across to her to be able to buy a ticket and come but the travel agents in nepal are not issuing her a ticket saying that there is a ban on her travelling to middle east...

i called up the nepalese embassy here and they said that the ban is there and valid

i don't know why the DNRD let us issue a visa for her if such a ban exists...

no i have no idea what to do... somebody recommended asking her to come from delhi (india) instead of kathmandu (nepal)... wondering if anyone has done this recently and would recommend it...

your thoughts??

Hi.. Apologies for the delay in reply. It's true that the govt of Nepal has put a ban on girls being sent to UAE as maids but this is also true that agents have been getting maids in the country. The officers at Kathmandu are bribed by these agents and they turn a blind eye in cases where these agents are concerned. In this case what some people do is try to get a ticket to Dubai from Cochin, Ahmedabad, Pune, Delhi or Mumbai. Bear in mind that the maid needs to have a NAGRIKTA PATRA, proof of nationality of Nepal, (original copy) with her when she's travelling to India or boarding a flight to some other place from India coz officials at Immigration may ask for it. You could call the consulate here to ask if there is any other way to get her here.. Good luck.. :-)
