I need some new suggestions on places to shop. I miss the quaint little mom and pop shops back in the states to find home decor and home made things for the children. I know there has to be more to shopping here than the malls and Ikea.

Thank you! DH is out of town right now but I'm already plotting when I can pawn the LO's off on him and check this place out. I googled Kath Cidson and her stuff is very pretty, romantic. I'm a Pottery Barn/Ballard Designs kind of girl but at this point I'm willing to look at everything!

There is a nice little shop in Jumeriah town centre (just before mercato) on beach road that sells some nice little Nick nacks. Depends what style you like but the things in the store where floral/spots designs, quite Kath Kidson.

Is Beach road where the On The Border Mexican restaurant is at? Is there a certain point to park and then start walking? Is it street parking or garage parking? If you park at one of the malls; Mercato, Town Centre, Jumeirah Plaza etc, the parking is free, avoid the above ground parking by The Lime Tree Cafe (Jumeirah Mosque/The One) as you have to pay, plus your car will be in the sun all day! Have a great time exploring!

Thank you! I didn't ship any of my artwork or nick nack stuff and if I have to go through Ikea one more time to find something to decorate a shelf, I'm going to puke. Where is Bur Dubai?

We walked up and down the length of Beach Road a month or so back-it was interesting but if you plan walking go soon-it is heating up! Karama , Satwa, Deira and Bur Dubai are also great fun to explore edited by wuffles on 28/03/2011

agree with the Jumeira suggestion...every time I drive down Beach Road I see little interesting shops tucked away and always think that I should go and check them out but never do.....one day!!

Explore Jumeirah! There are lots of interesting shops tucked away in there. For a whole different experience hit up the souks in Deira and Bur Dubai, you can find some amazing things!
