Has anyone been on those snazzy new water taxis yet? Not just across the creek but around the Marina or palm or another fun trip ? I was thinking of taking visitors but any info I can find about timings and cost is very vague. Does it work like a taxi where you just call one up ? If so how long wod you need to wait and what's the cost of say getting from the Marina to the palm ?

Thanks

It is really expensive-there are stations by the Creek and at Festival City-if you call the number on the stop boards they will give you the price-apparently you can wait qite a while for them to come-we were quoted an hour waiting time-but as the price started at 50dhs per person didn't bother Ordinary water taxis-they ones that have alawys been there (not the abras) cost 4 dhs to go from Baniyas Station to the Textile market-and usually we are the only ones on them!Fine for visitors and you get a good view of the creek in air condtioned comfort.

I think it must be for up to 10 people, confusing as usual!

We noticed these at Nasimi Beach dropping people off( Atlantis). The staff said they go everywhere from JBR right up to the Creek. They are 400dhs per hour for 10 people.

I remember googling it when I first saw it, and was shocked at the price! Mattar Al Tayer, RTA chairman and executive director said, “The service will be on demand from 10 am until 10 pm”. He said, “the service can also be booked for tourist trips, starting at AED400 per hour.” “[b'>Regular journeys start at AED50 for one stop going up to AED570 for a regular trip between the two farthest stations of Dubai Festival City and the Jebel Ali Hotel and Spa[/b'>,” said by Al Tayer. He added, “The number of locations will increase by adding new ones in the next period such as Meridian Mina Seyahi Hotel and Royal Mirage Hotel.”

I havent been on it, but see it often passing my window, looks quite cool. I wonder how much the fare is.
