Don't know if there are many Irish ladies out there but would appreciate some inside info! :)

My friend (Irish) is due to deliver in the beginning of April. She is hoping to be able to travel to the UK 2 months later. My question is; how long does it take to get the babies Irish passport and if it takes ages can the baby get a temp one?
TIA

I've also posted this on the bumps and babies page.

Ah thanks louise, thats really reassuring that if passport isn't ready she can still travel. I shall pass that on to her. Appreciate your info.

Now that there is an Embassy, in Abu dhabi, it's a bit better but 6 -8 weeks. Yes they do issue temporary passports. They issued a temp passport to us as we were in same situation. Our passport did come thro that same day tho. She needs to get the residency visa on the passport afterwards. We used a company to do this -Babysteps - they have an expensive express service for the residency visa. Or her pro at work could take that on. Louise
