Last week I needed some plants for my garden. A friend and I headed off to the plant souq close to Academic City. My friend had been before so we knew where to go. Ghafat Zayed Nursery. Mr. Amir was most helpful, giving us advise on which plants would survive the heat, summer, direct sunlight etc. He was even able to arrange inexpensive transport for our plants to our villas. Give him a try. His mobile number is 050-7589951. Tell him you got his info from EW.

Don't worry Dubai Di, when I get good service from someone in Dubai I get super excited too and feel like sharing the news around, particularly as good service in Dubai is so rare! Many times I've want to leave a post about Mr. Mohammed the satellite man, Santosh the handy repairman and my friendly DVD lady who shall remain nameless. It's not advertising if you have a positive experience and want to share the news.

I've always been really happy with 'City of Flowers' at the Plant Souq. The man who works there is knowledgeable, always very helpful and patient with my million questions and dithering. It's a bit sad but I really enjoy a trip to the Plant Souq. Love wandering around where it's all green and pretty and the chance to talk about plants for a while.

Ladies, sometimes people (including myself) receive great service or someone asks for recommendations and they are given information or freely post how pleased they are and Lord help the person who has not posted before! or does not have a high post count because then, that makes them suspicious of advertising. I would think that as long as a person was not pulling up old threads and posting their services 10 times (which is blatant advertising) then the information they are giving might just be useful to someone! So, why not wait until you see a cluster of ads about the same thing before you start accusing a poor poster of advertising lol...geez. And btw, Expatwoman have people who delete the blatant posts in the end. \ Dubai Di, you had better not post this again or the girls will be on you like flies on fly paper. Another BTW. I will going to Mr. Amir because, apparently, he knows what he is talking about re gardens and plants..which is sadly lacking here..so, Dubai Di, thanks. edited by SueB on 08/04/2011

I was answering to a poster asking for a garage in SHJ this is totally different than a new poster advertising a business.IMHO In both cases you and the OP were recommending services and providing contact details for such. If this is not permitted on the forum at all it would hardly matter if someone had asked for the info or if the info had been volunteered, and perhaps you might have the charity to consider that the OP was putting it out in the same spirit that you posted. Considering that the OP has not posted any ads before I would not jump to find them guilty so quickly.

New poster [b'>speaking highly of a business................advertising?[/b'>?? There's a lot of it around.......even from old posters 06/03/2011 13:42:17• quote shaks Posts 2980 I have 2 great garages in Sharjah, both near Lacnor factory/offices . One is a bengali guy who is great if you know what's wrong with your car tel 0558031426 The other one did a very good repair job on a French car ( agent very expensive ) He is Algerian national but speaks some English. He just drove the car and gave me a list of what needed doing. He kept calling me to inform me of the progress. The day after I collected the car he called me to make sure everything was fine. His name is Salim 0502033661.
