not sure how valid this is but got it from twitter which says this is protests today in Dubai to support Syria. Looks very peaceful though http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5yTC4qRGL0

We live in JBR - helicopters come and go all the time in and out of Sky Dubai. And today it's more prevalent with the boat racing. Scaremongering I think.

I did think the comment about helicopters was a little far fetched!

blimey I hear helicopters all the time, especially so when something big is going on and I dont mean protests. this weekend is the Dubai World Cup, loads of high rollers in town going by helicopter. Last wekend it was Stevie Wonder, every day its something. Just scaremongering IMHO by the BBC blogger.

There was talk of a Facebook group set up around the petition by UAE citizens calling for a reform in the parliamentary system, suggesting 25th March as a date for a demonstration in Dubai, I think. Apparently the FB group has disappeared.

this is from the BBC website.... www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-12776418 Brit Expat from, Dubai, UAE writes: "For the second week running we have heard occasional helicopters over the central residential areas of Dubai around the time of Friday prayers. Possibly just cautionary to let people know that not all the police have gone to Bahrain. UAE seems happy enough but no-one is taking anything for granted. Some reports indicate an attempt to set up a protest in UAE today." someone trying to create a panic or do you think there's any truth in this?
