Question about USA visa

Has anyone applied for a Tourist visa for the USA recently? I have done my application online, got the bar code confirmation etc. but for the life of me can't make the online appointment for the interview. On the website it shows you the calendar to make the appointment and if its purple it's fully booked, if its blue there are appointments available and if it is grey you can't get appointments on that day. The problem is that everything is grey from now through to 2013!!!!! Surely this can't be right? And of course I can't get anyone on the phone and all my emails bounce back. So what do I do now?

I had the same problem when trying to book an appointment for Dubai - it didn't show any available date. So I instead chose to get an interview appointment at Abu Dhabi - more dates available. Only issue was that in AD, I had to wait a bit for them to pull my file because I had filled out the form for Dubai. Sorry if I made it sound complicated. ETA: You can get an appointment at the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi even if you have a Dubai visa EXCEPT if you have an Iranian Passport stamped with a Dubai visa [then you need to go to Dubai for the interview'>. Clarifying just in case this scenario applies to you. edited by em2san on 07/04/2011

HI, I did my Visa last month and remember facing a similar scenario as you. But good news is that if you keep checking on a daily basis there will be opening available evetually, we checked one day and there was absolutely nothing, the next day there were plenty available days. Just keeping checking, oh and don’t forget to go to National Bank Of Abu Dhabi in MOE to pre pay for the appointment i think it was 500 AED, keep the receipt as this one of the first papers they request when at the embassy. Some further tips for the day you go- Take a snack or 2, don’t take the kids with you, have nothing planned for the rest of the day,it took me 7 hours to get through it all, very tiring but its good knowing you dont have to do it for the next 10 years! Goodluck :)

Hi chants39, My understanding is that the month of April is entirely booked, and they'll resume appointment scheduling for the next month towards the middle or end of this one. Maybe you'll have better luck if you log in a week or ten days later. We applied at the beginning of this year and faced a similar problem. Just waited it out. Ofcourse, in the interim if you can catch hold of somebody from the consulate/embassy to clarify, that would be ideal.

Maybe you called at a time they do not answer, they only accept phone enquires at the following times: (971) 4 311-6000 (visa calls are answered weekdays 3-4 p.m) I have got through in the past and spoken to the visa section successfuly. Its true the appointments are usually booked up at least one month ahead but two years is strange, I would call them at the right time and ask.
