Hi Ladies, My daughter is getting married in the UK and our house is on rental, so I wondered if anyone knows of estate agents/private renting in the summer for about 5/6 weeks. We are looking for a 4 bed furnished home in north london. Tried searching on google but they all seem unfurnished. Hope someone can suggest some estate agents that they have used........ Thanks in advance

Be careful with a home swap - it's fine if you own the property but if you are in a rental property you may well find that you can't do that in keeping with your lease.....

Jyoti, I am letting out a 1 bed flat in SW4 for over GBP 800 a month, long term. You're going to have to expect to pay a lot more short-term in North London for a furnished larger place of the kind that you require - why not try and get an hotel deal?

Hi, just did a search on the sites and they seem to be quite expensive! Also, did not find many furnished around north london. As you said hastings, its diff to find a large 4 bed in summer, 2 2-bed would not be very practical as its my daughters wedding and would like a large living area/garden. Any other suggestion ? Please keep them coming. Hi jwal, renting is quite expensive in london (you can get cheaper moving out of london). Just to give u an idea one of my daughter is renting a semi-furnished 2 bed in harrow on the hill for 900 a month (excluding bills) and the other daughter is renting at 1400gbp a month a 2bed in elephant & caslte area.

I am just looking at these sites and it is looking like 600 gbp a week is the norm for even a 2 bed, by the time we pay for our flights, rental cottage, car hire, food etc... we are looking at around 8 k gbp for a month in the uk, is this normal for a family of 2 adults and 3 children, seems expensive!

I think a short let of large house in London in summer is difficult! Did you think of 2 2-bed. holiday flats in same building instead?

Thank you ladies, I knew I could rely on your help. Will try all the websites mentioned. I would have loved to do a house swap but who would want to come here in the heat ! But will give it a go. Its sooooooo difficult trying to find a 4 bed furnished, maybe should tell my daughter to postpone her wedding until next summer so we can take our house off rental Lol !

if you're leaving your home here empty you could do a house swap, try... http://www.guardianhomeexchange.co.uk/ or http://www.homelink.org.uk/

Hi - I use www.cottages4u.co.uk (used to be Hoseasons and Blakes) when I go back to the UK - you get choice of 3, 4 or 5 star properties, all over the UK and can see immediately if they are available. Have always had suberb weeks, and the website has a feedback section so you can see what previous 'tenants' have thought. Generally always fully furnished with linen, and well equiped kitchens.

I dont know that an estate agent is your best option for a short term rental, when I went back to scotland last year I got a 4 week rental from either www.holidaylettings.co.uk or www.ownersdirect.co.uk or something similar, I can remember exactly.

Try fish 4 homes website, do an advanced search as it gives the option of renting a furnished property. It will then tell you which estate agent the property is listed with.
