The other day I saw a shop in Satwa (near bus stop) that had many sewing machines in the shop window.
Do you know if they sell new or used ones?
I am looking for a new one. Any advice where else I could go to buy a good one at a reasonable price?

That shop is Satwa - near the bus stop - is way too much expensive, 3 months ago, I needed to buy a little sewing machine for a little girl for her school projects, the man in the shop said it worth 450 aed, tried to bargain with him, he didn't move a dirham! I asked him if he will give me an international warranty, the sod tried to fool me by giving me arabic UAE warranty from his drawer and it's for Singer, not Janome!!!! I asked him where is the Janome Warranty, he said NO this is the Only warranty I can have in UAE!!!! I just wanted to tell him to Fob Off, coz this is ain't my first time to buy one. Then went to Janome dealer, and found the same one 350 aed!!!! and they could provide me with a janome warranty, unfortunately only UAE and ME but a Janome warranty and the dealer stamp on. The Janome dealar in in Nayef, Dubai.

I did a pattern drafting course recently and our course Instructor told us Satwa would be the best place to buy a sewing machine. My Janome had a slight problem and they sent it to the dealers and got it fixed, so in my opinion Satwa is the best option. Look around compare prices and functions, do take the warranty card etc. The shop name was Nouras (I think)

@fairycakemum I paid 400 for my Singer from Geant about three years ago. Very straightforward to use.

I also know several people who bought there, he definitively has the best price too.

Hi KKS I have model 2808 C. I suppose it's a fairly basic machine but I use it mainly for alterations and making the odd thing so it suits me fine. It stitches forwards and reverse, has a dial with quite a lot of settings for different stitches, e.g. overstitching seams, etc. and has a removeable extension table. Hope you find what you want. Happy sewing !! Are they expensive ?easy to use was thinking of getting one but just need a basic one so dd can use as well?

I bought mine in Geant. It's a Singer and was about 400 dhs. Had it for three years now and it's been great. Obviously the price you pay will depend on what you want it to do. Don't know if I would buy one from Satwa. Personally I would prefer to be able to take it back to somewhere that would be able to help if it needed attention.
