We are wanting to go skiing in Europe in April (mixture of intermediate and beginner and terrified (me!)) but have no idea of where there will be guaranteed snow. Can any of you seasoned skiers out there give me some advice and also recommendations of accommodation (hotel/chalets) etc. Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Austria, Tirol, especially Obergurgl in the Oetztal, great skiing as late as April, due to its high altitude...

I'm in Val d'Isere at the moment ski ing and although there is snow at the moment, it hasn't snowed in 3 weeks and the chalet girl today was saying it's been forecast that there will be no snow in the next month either. As I said there is snow at the moment but its getting a bit icy but the sunny skies make up for it! I agree with the other posters if you want to ski in April just choose the highest resort and hope for the best.

Definitely Val T. If you're going to get snow anywhere, it's there, and if you get super lucky it'll cover the whole of the Trois Vallees. I am ridiculously jealous.

Avoriaz is a good, high resort. Not the best for accomodation though. :)

Tignes or Val Thorens are pretty safe bets that time of year.... have skied in Flaine late March but coming into April I think it is pot luck, higher slopes will be OK but if you are just starting out then guess you'll want some lower runs to start off....
