Ladies...

Do any of you have a NEPALI maid under your sponsorship...

Am planning to hire one but wasn't sure if I will be allowed to sponsor one in Dubai... coz the government articles all state only maids from India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Phillipines, Ethiopia and Indonesia can be sponsored.

HELP!

i cannot understand the fixation with a Nepali maid, and ditto what Sanddy said. As for agency problems, I do not understand the difficulty. i have used Al Ahliya for 10 years now. Just out of curiosity, how many maids have you had in 10 years?

Not quite sure I would be listening too hard to the recommendations of a maid's siblings (regardless of nationality). To get their sister working in Dubai would, I'm sure, put more money in the family pot so they're hardly likely to tell the truth if their sister's a lazy, dirty, thieving waste of skin are they?

Are these agencies all capable of bringing a Nepali maid? Spare yourself the hassle and just get another nationality.

Icedqueen- yikes! try the ones mentioned. i am waiting for someone to call back with the number than i will post I don't like Al Ahliya. I found them completely unprofessional. I have been chasing them for a long time. So far Al Farsan, Al Muhandes and Falcon have been ok and have sent CV's with contact details. I really do hope something positive comes out of all this stress.

I dont understand why people dont use agencies?! 77 Labour Supply Companies listed in the Dubai Yellowpages online directory. At least 30 numbers don't go anywhere when you call, 10 only speak Arabee not Englisssss, 25 go to a fax line, 5 promise to email CV's but don't bother, 4 that do send CV's will not give you contact numbers... so weight and height and complexion colour are good indicators when hiring a domestic helper??? 3 have sent me CV's with contact details. Getting through to the potential employee... well that's a completely different story. Welcome to competent and professional business ideologies that exist in this lovely city....hooray! And they come up with ridiculous figures ranging from 6200 to 8000. I started with Sharjah companies... so far so good the cost is 6000 :D I am so glad. Now let me go back to trying the 47 numbers listed in Sharjah.

the only reason i didn't use an agency was because we knew her sister who's working here... yes the agency ones are definitely cheaper but u can't do background checks and cross references... anyway, for the record, can someone email me the contact details of such agencies... my address is the same as my user name at yahoo dot com we got my mother in laws's maid sister but made sure we used an agency. you can use the agency to bring someone over

An friend who had a Nepali maid came back from Work around 6PM to find her 2 DDs crying. She found that they came back from school around 1-2pm and the maid who picked them up at their stop, found a maid/houseboy who also hailed from Nepal on the street and she went crazy talking and fixing up meeting times with the new found acquaintance. She sent the kids up saying she would be up in 2 minutes and went on chatting with the other person for hours !! :\: She would also lie down on the couch in the living room and watch tv while the kids went on with their homework. To be honest, I have found that these Nepali Maids get an orgasm, the moment they see/discover someone else hailing from Nepal. And the way their brothers bloom up out of the blue is mind-boggling... now it is getting interesting!

Our Nepali maid has been with us for 5 yrs now..... fab with child minding( my DD adores her and misses her when she goes for her annual leave); efficient at house work; takes one day off a week; is lovely with our 3 dogs...even injects insulin for one pooch when we are out for vacation.... WIsh you all the very best... last year she had to come via Delhi as the airport authorties as ked for hefty bribe which she was not willing to pay. So now, we have planned to get her via Delhi as she has relatives there also whom she can meet and then come to Dubai.

thanks for the heads up ladies... but I have already spoken to the maid's official brother and sister (have their passport copies too!) and I also cross referenced with her current employer in delhi... so i'm assuming all this is legit... anyway will give it a shot... but in the meantime if any of u know of any reliable maids that i can hire... any nationality (provided the max salary i have to pay is AED 1100/-) let me know... else, this girl will be joining us by mid-march all the families that i know who have nepalese maids/houseboys keep raving about how well their kids are taken care off... so i guess this again is a case of pure luck... anyway let's wait and see i guess... i do get to 'trial' her for 60 days within which i have to get her passport stamped or send her packing! you can get a maid from an agency for dh800 salary a month, worth it for the guarantee of being able to return them

I would seriously re-think how you hire a maid. If you go through a labour supply company in Dubai, they have branches in these countries and do extensive background checks and interviews. If something goes wrong, you can get a replacement. Just drop the lousy, smelly thieving maid at their office and they will bring you a new one. Easy peasy. Nepalese maids are notoriously bad with kids. Not all, I am sure (maybe), but everyone that I know who has had one has said. They are also dirty, in a lot of ways. I guess there must be exceptions, but I would not bring one with my fingers crossed. Ahh... is SQ back? Wish I had known this before I wasted all my time, effort and money on a Nepali maid.

Be prepared for any so-called Brother to call her up at 2 in the morning... Somehow long-lost brothers, neighboring village brothers etc keep on calling them (even from Saudi..) I tried to call back and turns out it was a Labor Camp where they had a common sim between 4-5 men. ahh... so you know about that one as well? lol... out of a population of almost 29 million people, they seem to have quite a few bro's!

Sorry to scare you. I have just had such an awful time with the one that I hired and I will never hire one from Nepal again. I am still scarred from the horrible experience :(

Yikes IcedQueen... u've totally petrified me!!! but in all practicality i think that's a risk u take when u have hired help from ANY country! The Nepali maid that I have in mind will be brought on a maid visa (provided the authorities dont reject it) and will be flying in from Delhi (where she currently works). She comes highly recommended by her sister and brother (both of whom work as help here in Dubai). Thanks ChiggyWiggy for the tip on the documentation... I shall remind her about this... Hope it works out for me... 'coz we really need help ASAP and have heard mixed reviews from everyone!

Nooooo... please please whatever you do, do NOT hire a Nepalese maid. Long long story but I just sent the one I had packing! Too many issues with her which included stealing, lying, calls from unknown men all day long, not the brightest crayon in the box, flooding my house, very filthy (i am still disinfecting her room and the awful smell still lingers), etc etc etc. The list goes on oh and I forgot to include that I apparently "beat" her. And whatever you do, do NOT deal with an agent based in Nepal - initials BL. He will dictate terms including making sure she "meets" her so called bro in MoE C4 (I would presume to give money as they have to pay their way to come here!). It got so bad in the end and she even "arranged" a new sim card 2 days before I sent her packing as I had taken her sim away - how did she get it I still have no clue. Long long story but horrible ending! And thousands of dirhams down the drain with the lying conniving b!
