I went in Nov/Dec 2010 and really enoyed it. Spent time in HCM City (Saigon), then cycling and kayaking in Mekong Delta, up to Da Lat for more kayaking and hiking in the hills, then the island of Phu Quoc. The highlight was the time in the Delta, getting off the beaten track to little villages that don't have proper roads so virtually no other tourists. Phu Quoc was OK but I wouldn't go back. I'd really like to return to Vietnam and go to the North, to Hanoi and Halong Bay. As it was winter it was a good time of year for that part of the country when we went. Lots of really nice souveniers of good quality available in Saigon, we bought quite a few things. Have fun!
