I wonder which is worse? At least I am not an ankle-biting L of the N. We were able to apply to DESS, JESS and Repton (all UK curriculum) without a visa... One of them has a mixed REPutation and has been having some issues so you will need to decide if it's worth applying... I also hear one of them has REPulsive fees which will likely beout of the company budget. I will see if its possible to apply for the other. Thank you :)

Ha so you have been shortened to sounding like a lady of the night and myself a yappy, ankle biting ugly mutt!! Love it!! I must say after being on this forum only a week it certainly makes me chuckle. And sat at work in miserable England, with a salad for lunch (bikini body required in 4 weeks!!) the thought of the “Lancashire HotTatiePot Yorkiflette” is urging these last few days to fly by even quicker. And the fact the DH left this morning to set up home in the sunshine makes it even more depressing! But browsing EW keeps the smiles coming! Thats great about the visa thing, it definitely makes the whole process a lot easier as DH is way too busy to be doing all the research and I felt completely helpless not being able to anything from this end. I did get a reg form for a school and it wouldn’t let me submit it without some number that relates to the visa, but maybe that was just a one off. Maybe now I should spend the rest of my day browsing the school websites rather than EW......

I’m guessing I have to wait for her visa to be sorted (which I hear is a pretty quick process) before I begin on getting her on waiting lists? Hi Yorkie (I am getting shortened to Tarti so dishing out the same treatment!) I cannot advise on most of your post BUT I do know from recent experience that you [u'>can[/u'> apply without having the visa. We applied from outside the UAE with just passport, birth certificate, etc.-- the schools ask that you send them a copy of the entry stamp ASAP and then the residence visa once it has been processed (as it is required for registration with the authorities-- but that is after the child has been admitted!). Good luck, I'm sure we'll get more insights from the EW crowd at the Lancashire HotTatiePot Yorkiflette Orienteering Night!

So...we move to Dubai in May this year. We have an 18 month old DD. So I’m thinking the first thing to do is get her in school. Can anyone help me on where I start? I’m guessing I have to wait for her visa to be sorted (which I hear is a pretty quick process) before I begin on getting her on waiting lists? We’re wanting UK curriculum, we will be living at Media City, but a bit of a drive doesn’t bother me as I’m used to 1 ½ hour round trip every morning in England to get DD to child care then myself to work. She will start FS1 in Sept 2013 right? I have looked at the KHDA reports and seen which are classed as good or outstanding so used this as a bit of a starting point. However, the ones that are frequently talked about on here seem to have waiting list closed for this year already! Can anyone give me any advice on what to do from here? And any waiting list I can get her on where realistically there may be a chance of getting her a place? And what schools would you recommend visiting and looking at trying to get her into? TIA!
