I think you're just looking for palm jaggery, yes? Palm jaggery is made from sugarpalm/date palm. I have found this in the 'exotic' spices section in Spinneys. It's in a plastic pack in big shards. It's called Palm Jaggery on the packet, and is the best-quality (ie date palm) version. You may also find it in the spice souk, but it may not be pure date palm jaggery (or may not be labelled as such). Good luck.
