My DD (18 months) is going through the same thing. She always ate so well, even better than me and DH. Then she was sick for a week and went completely off her food. She is no longer sick and not teething at present but her eating has not returned to what it used to be before she got sick. Each day she seems to eat more and more, but no where near as much as she used to eat. Its frustrating, but I am just offering her a variety of foods and if she eats, great, if not then I try not to stress. I'm putting it down to just a phase as I know she is not unwell and not teething. Speaking about phases... has anyone's kid gone through the 'has to be carried all the time' phase? Its doing my head in, not to mention my arm is about to drop off! Yesterday it reached a whole new level... had to unpack the groceries with one hand while holding DD in the other. My arm is about to give in!! How long does this phase last for?

I agree, likely causes are teething/sore throat and otherwise just a normal toddler phase, just give him what he likes for a few weeks and it will most likely pass vs making it into a big deal/battle of wills.

Maybe he's cutting molars that's painful and now prefers soft-textured food? Keep offering a variety and when he feels like it, he will eat it. Could also be that he's just going through a fussy phase. My DD (3) goes through phases where she only eats plain rice or breads for a couple days, to days when she only wants veg, etc to days when she happily eats a wide variety of healthy foods.
