Anyone used a Montessori bed for their baby?

Hello ladies,
I was wondering if any of you used what is called a "Montessori" bed for your babies/toddlers. The idea is that you fully babyproof the LO's room and place a mattress on the floor or on a very low bed frame, hence skip the cot/crib alltogether. I know there are different schools of thought and am not intersted in debating the Montessorian approach, I'm just curious if anybody has tried it and what was their experience (how the LO reacted, any safety/babyproofing tips, etc).
