Hi! I had my baby shower at a friend's home and I personally feel its much more comfortable..as DXBchica said there were decorations, cake, food and lots of good friends and family around :) I guess your main focus should be where the mommie to be would be most comfortable and then organise it there! Oh and for party supplies you can order them online through Party Souq...they deliver to you!
Cheers!

I've been to a few over the last year including at host's home, at mum to be's home, at afternoon tea (Ritz Carlton), at brunch at the Polo Club.
Whether they were at home or out, all featured decorations (quite a few party shops in Dubai where you can get decorations (e.g. centre pieces, balloons, napkins, table sprinkles/confetti etc), games (baby themed quizzes, guess the size of mummy's tummy, feed the baby (like pin the tail on donkey but with a baby bottle!), match the baby picture to guest, nappy changing races etc etc), food/nibbles, party favors (e.g. Themed cupcakes or cookies), presents for mum to be and baby (you can usually tell which are the presents from mums - thy give the useful stuff and others give the cute stuff! Lol!).
However, the most important thing is not where it is or how much shower paraphenlia there is but to have the mum to be's close friends and family and have some quality time together to catch up and swap stories before baby comes and give everyone a chance to share in the joy and excitement! Have fun organizing!
I just organised one last weekend, we had it at the Park Hyatt and had afternoon tea. They were really helpful and it was really reasonable, AED 140 for 2 people and there was loads of food and tea for that price. We sat outside on a big table and couch type of chairs, all very relaxed. They let us decorate if we sat outside.
I threw my friend her baby shower at her house, invited friends, work ppl. We had snacks, ( al healtyhy cos of her Blood sugar lol), then we had some games, even dragged her poor hubbie in to try and wrap a teddy in a diaper in under 30 seconds, she tested chocolate in a diaper, we had scrabble with baby words etc. Was quite fun. Had alco for the non moms and soft drinks etc. Had childrens music playing in background.
Then she opened her gifts, got lots of stuff, but she has made a list and circulated it ( im cringing as i write this as this was something i didnt agree with), but she liked it and what she didnt like, she returned the next day!!
So all in all, it went well. it was better for her in her house, more relaxed etc etc.
Loads of websites with fun games and snacks and silly things, and lots of stuff on ebay too to decorate the house, which is cheaper than buying here!!
Ideally baby shower will be at friend's house. But you can also check out Al Areesh Club in Festival City, I have been to few baby showers there, and they charge you only for the food, they do not charge for venue. And if you need a diaper cake, contact us on:
