thanks abby. i stay in mankhool, and even though there's still time (i have not started my maternity leave yet, let alone going back to work!) worry about everything under the sun. good to know there's a good day care nearby when the time is right.

my DD used to go to De La Salle Montessori in Mankhool (next to BurJuman Centre)... they take in kids as young as 3 months and their creche fees are quite competitive... they take kids in from 7:30am until 6:00pm and the charges used to be around 30,000 for 10 months... which brings it to 3000 per month...

5000 for three half days?! Surely thats the per term cost though, not per month? I have to say when i was looking for DD (Al Wasl, Umm Suqeim, Jum area) I didnt find any that were over 5k per month for 5 days 8am-3pm. The highest quote i had was 4500pm, and the one we go to now is 3100pm. I think we must be getting out per term/per month costs confused, surely!

There are very nice and cheap daycare centers in not so popular areas for expats in Dubai. I found the perfect place in International City. if you are interested the name is Kids World and they follow the Montessori system, have swimming and field trips. they work 7 to 7 5 days a week and have around 10 nationalities. It's a trip to go there, but my DS loves it, plus the price is super - 2000/month. If you are interested I can give you the details for you to check if they have space. Cheers

DD is in nursery at Jebel Ali Village nursery 5 morning per week from 8am - 12pm (yes only 4 hours a day) and the term fees are 8000aed. 8am - 1pm is 9000aed and so on. Yep unfortunatly day care/nursery here is horrendously expensive. Sorry eddited to add that Jebel Ali Village nursery is in JBR marina. edited by Tablair2004 on 09/07/2011
