HI All,
Here's the link to the website page with the BF information...
http://www.expatwoman.com/dubai/monthly_pregnancy_babies_Breastfeeding_Support_In_Dubai_8935.aspx
Which is found in our specialised Pregnancy & Babies section
http://www.expatwoman.com/dubai/monthly_pregnancy_babies.aspx

Thanks kiwispiers... Glad you liked the section we have regular contributors in the form of doulas and midwives etc.... And we want more reference info for there too. Thanks for your feedback :) we're constantly updating and adding to the site and will sort the sticky out too with the link.... Good idea!
The information is collated by a group called BreastFeeding Q&A... We have featured their events and info in our Pregnancy section before and can do now- when they send it to us.
thanks admin, I don't believe there is a "group" or official organisation, as far as I know BFC is a breastfeeding councilor who took it upon herself to create a list of contacts of support avenues that women could turn to. I have been in contact with her recently regarding my son's tongue tie and she has kindly directed me to a Dr who may be able to help.
I am happy to email you a copy of the list as it stands now but I do not have the connections/resources to update it.
As a happy result of last nights posts on the matter I discovered the "families" section of the EW website, which I admit I had never come across before. As well as posting the list, would you be open to a section on breastfeeding support/issues perhaps written by someone like BFC. It would be a great resource to able to link to. Also a link to the family section in your sticky on this forum would help direct users like myself who have been posting form years but never really utilised/discovered the more recent additions to the EW site.
Hi everyone,
As was stated last night... If an official from this group would like to contact us through the proper channels we are more than happy to put this information on the site, as we do for many groups and charities... This was also advised in previous communication.
When the information needs to be updated an email can be sent to us and pages are very quick to update.... Not a problem at all.
If someone would like to email the details through to [email protected] and it will all be dealt with very quickly.

probably being dumb here, but what group? I thought it was just BFC's list??
Frances and BFC etc have their own yahoo group and breastfeeding meet up group (one of the ones they adverties on the list they are complaining about being deleted)

Why doesnt she just create a list on some other site - say facebook or yahoo group. Then she can post a link when anybody asks for that info and it would still be in within forum rules and she can also update it herself.
I believe the list is available on a facebook page, I would post a link however the forum rules prohibit linking to facebook pages or other forums and I wouldn't want to breach that.
As a currently breastfeeding mother, with another child on the way and a deep fear of having issues again I guess the loss of such information is more frightening to me than it might be to others.
Admin I did read last night your suggestion that the info be emailed to you and posted elsewhere, but BFC pointed out if she did this she would not be able to keep it current which would be a shame.
I understand that such a list could have been seen to breach the forum guidelines, however I wonder if somehow you could make an "exception" given the special circumstances, the information was so helpful and useful for so many women on this forum who had nowhere else to turn. There are so many many posts from women struggling with breastfeeding and asking for help, advice and support. having a current list of experts they can turn to was invaluable. Having been helped myself by BFC in my breastfeeding journey I know firsthand how a stranger reaching out on a forum can make a difference in your life and it seems to me her list was very much in keeping with the spirit of non-judgementall support and guidance that this forum is about. I truly doubt that any users, regardless of how they feed their babies would object or take offense to an exception being made to allow that post to stay and be updated.
In my mind, it would be great if a link to the list (wherever it may be) could be included in a sticky at the top of the pregnancy/babies forum since that is the place that most mothers in need visit looking for help. if there was some way it was able to be continuously updated that would be so valuable too, since we all know in this part of the world people are forever coming and going and contacts can quickly become outdated.
Its great that admin have the interest of users at heart, and so I hope on this issue, a dialogue can follow and a solution be found, that benefits as many users as possible.
btw, if the list could include breastfeeding support in Qatar as well as the UAE that would be even better!

Admin actually did respond to her and say they she could just email them updates and they woudl take care of it and that they do that type of thing daily....
ETA - Anyone doing a search for that issue would find the link on a previous thread just as easily as they would have found the original thread. Its not such a big deal as people seem to want to make of it.........

I believe Admin already responded to that last night?
And said they would be willing to post the info in the appropriate place?
Frances for one I remember you posting on the thread....
I'd rather hear from them PJ.
Yes - but thats what I pointed out to you. Admin actually posted on that thread last night explaining why and saying they would move it to a more appropriate place on the board. They literally copied and pasted the pertinent part of the rules when this question was asked. You posted after admins post about it all being hogwash, stickler for the rules etc et. So am not sure why you feel you are unaware of it now...

Get off my thread PJ, I've been a member since 2004 I don't need the rules quoted to me, don't patronize me take it off the board and email me, this post is about the rights of bf mothers.

What is your issue Frances. Its a public forum.
You asked for an explanation. You already got one from them yesterday. And your response is that you dont want rules quoted to you. Then why keep asking?
Clearly its because of the hostility such as what you just displayed and the fact the several member feel certain threads and topics are "theirs".
