I think it depends on the demands of LO and I would think that people tell you to give milk to DD because of all the Calcium it contains. In this case, LO can get Calcium from different sources, not only milk.
Thanks kiwispiers!
DD's milk intake is solely via fruit smoothies, and usually 2 smoothies per day, 1 in morning, 1 after dinner, which she loves. But she's also going though the never ending fussy food phase. Because she's still getting a whole lot of milk as her daily intake i'm starting to wonder if she is having too much milk which therefore may be affecting her appetite, or lack of it seems. So thinking if I cut it out in the morning, maybe (hopefully) she'll have much more of an appetite throughout the day. Its just that I keep hearing that milk is still really important, so I was reluctant to stop the morning smoothie.
I guess I could try cutting out the morning smoothie and see if her appetite improves...arghhh so frustrating when in the last few days she's only eaten 2 decent meals and hardly even snacked on finger food!
mine drinks anything from practically none to probably almost a litre depending on what he asks for and whether we go out. He likes going to cafes with me and i get him either a babycino (steamed milk in a small cup) or a "milkshake" which is just cold milk in a cup with a straw. At home he has milk on his cereal, and I make him milk smoothies most days which are milk, fruit (banana, strawberries, blueberries, apples etc) and sometimes some cinnamon. He was BF on demand for 22 months and so I've never really measured his milk intake. He does not have milk as part of a bedtime routine and drink only from a cup not a bottle.
I guess they should have dairy in their diet or if not, other sources of calcium and protein but i think at this point they are generally eating a balanced diet which is not so milk based as a baby so milk becomes less important.
Hi Mums,
DD is turning 2 next month and I'm just interested to hear how much milk your 2yr old drinks? Like is there a daily 'minimum' they should be having?
Thanks!
