If the room is particularly dry then a humidifier might help relieve the symptoms slightly but if its a virus you will need to wait it out as hard as that may be. With giving saline drops, try to keep bubs upright (on you or in a bouncer etc) afterwards as lying flat with the saline ups the risk of an ear infection developing. You might find a baby-bjorn useful so you can keep upright and provide comfort while you wait it out. A bowl of water in the room is as effective as the cheap humidifiers. The good ones are really expensive but long term a combined humidfier/purifier like the Sharp Plasmacluster makes you feel better about the fact that the air here is so dry and dusty.
