Today was my 16 dpo and I took a HPT and it was +. This is our first month trying so really surprise especially since we used lubricant and I am already 34. I have always used the natural family planning as birth control so I know I ovulated on Dec 20th, so I am like 4 weeks now?. What should I do now?. Take a blood test?, when should I start going to the obstetrician?. I have no idea what to do now??

jwal - lubrication (unless you use a sperm friendly lube) acts as a mild spermicide. Congratulations imolinar! First step - go to your GP and havea blood test to confirm. They might want to do early bloods for Hep B, C and HIV etc. Next - choose your hospital and your OB! :) Lots of recommendations on here for that (just use search function). Make an appointment with the OB early so you can avoid a delay in being seen and they will take you from there! First OB visit varies... depending on when you want to be seen etc. I generally aimed for week 10 - first scan is clearer then and they can guestimate due date etc from this. You'll then have your 12 week scan a few weeks after this first visit. Obviously if you have any worries or concerns you can book in early! Start (if you haven't already) taking folic acid and ... relax :D he he! Thanks meals for the s"x ed!!!

thanks, cant wait for Dh to be home to share the news. @jwal -> some lubes can kill the sperm so it can reduce the changes of getting pregnant. I just read this recently.

Go to your Gynae for a blood test to confirm they generally dont see anything in the Sac until at least 6 weeks so even if they did do an ultrasound which most of them wont they wont be able to confirm the pregnancy this way ! Congrats and enjoy :)

What difference does using lube make?!!! Congrats, you can go to a obgyn for a scan to see the sac at any point and they will confirm preg for you, good luck!
