Hi

I have just found out that I am around 4 weeks pregnant and was wondering if anyone can advise me of the next steps??

I was thinking of calling City Hospital tomorrow and trying to get an appointment with Dr Elsa or Dr Philips as I have heard good things about both them and the hospital. Is this the correct thing to do? When shall I book an appointment for 8 weeks?? Or do I go to a GP for confirmation?

I am very confused so any help will be very welcome :)

Thank you

Thank you for all your replies. I am certain I'm 4 weeks as I had a normal period in December and started trying for a baby only in January. There is no way I am any further than that! I have called and made an appointment at 7 weeks with Dr Philip. Dr Elsa has a long waiting list so I opted for Dr Philip. Just got to sit tight and stay healthy until then I guess!!

Congratulations How do you know you are around 4 weeks? Is that your best guess according to your last period? First, I would go to your GP for a blood test to see how far gone you actually according to your HCG levels in your blood (you might be surprised) , then you can book a 12 weeks scan with a Dr of your choice either at City and stay with them the whole time, or somewhere else near by that can do the scans and blood tests that you will need in the first 20 weeks before transferring to your Dr at City

Congratulations! Dr Elsa and Dr Philips are both supposed to be very good but I think Dr Elsa has a long wait list before she can fit you in so you may have to see someone else first. I am with Dr Yuliya who is based at the Femiclinic in Healthcare city but I am delivering at the City Hosp. So that is another way. I had my first appointment at 8 weeks and then every 4 weeks from then. Just make sure you are taking your folic acid tablets and good luck!!!!!

Hi Supersparki and congratulations! I was already seeing an obs/gynae so will continue with her up until my next scan (approx 13 weeks). Unfortunately she doesn't deliver babies herself so I will have to transfer to someone else after that. I had my first scan at 6 weeks btw, which I think is normal here. I am definitely considering City as well as I've heard good things about it. Hopefully someone can give you some better advice!
