Increase on Nursery-fees and timings by Ministry of Social Affairs???
I recieved an email from the nursery my son attends this morning that just made me want to throw in the towel. Another increase in nursery-fees, this time from the Minstry of Social Affairs. Has anyone else heard/recieved emails from thier nurseries about this??? According to the email ALL nurseries in Dubai are now subject to the new timings and fees and as usual here in Dubai it´s pay up or get out.
When I signed up my son in September the fee was 6500 dhs 5 days a week (half day). When we had paid half the fee +registration fees, doctors fees etc, I was informed that there had been an increase of a 1000 dhs per term. I was a bit put off seeing as on the contract I signed, on their website, in their pamfletts and information-folders nothing was mentioned of this but of course we paid it.
So imagine my shock now when the new fees are 9500 dhs per term as of Jan 2013 and the timings are 07.00 am - 2.00 pm. (currently my son atttends 07.30-12.30). In total its almost a 50 % increase in 4 months... all from the Ministry of Social Affairs.
As the nursery is already breathing down our necks for next terms payment I just want to check with anyone out there if this is something you have heard about or if we should start making inquieries with other nurseries. It would break my heart since my son is very attached to his teachers after a little rough time setteling in but I also feel a little suspicious with all these raises in fees blamed on the Ministry.
(As you prob understand by this letter we are a normal workingclass-family without a package deal)
Any advice, tips or shared stories would be much appreciated as I find it a bit odd that the Ministry of Social Affairs have decided to increase the hours and fees with so much.
