Yes I am going back to the states on Eitihad with a fouteen month old by myself. Any one fly on this airlines in similar circumstances? Any suggestions? I bought another seat and thinking about upgrading us to business. Very nervous about this so any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you

Hi Umibrahim - No you do not need to take a car seat as LO will sit on your lap during take off. I do take a car seat when I travel though & check it in with the luggage only because the car seats that the car rental provides are abit manky & worn & I've had one that actually was broken & not even safe.

Defo upgrade to Business if can & even better if DH can use his points. It's a long flight you have & the seats in business lay flat so your LO can sleep comfortably. Flew business with Ethihad when my LO was 15mths last summer & there was a spare seat so they saved it for DS to sleep on. The staff were great with him also playing with him etc.

Thanks for the added replys. My husband just found out he could upgrade us to business using his miles so I am thinking about going that way. Also should I invest in a sit and stroll? Is t worth it? or should I just bring my car seat since I will need it in America, it fit onto my Graco stroller so I thought I would check the stroller at the gate and but then I would have to lug the baby carry ons and car seat if they do not give me back my stroller at the gate which has happen to people at the US because of customs and security Thanks for applying to one more question

You need to go with the knowledge that she will be some kind of disruption and not feel too bad about it. If you're doing your best to keep her busy and distracted, no one around you has any right to be put out and nor should you feel worried. I'd advise lots of little toys - finger puppets, felt stick on pictures, light books, crayons etc. A dvd player or like is a little bulky to carry and I found it didn't keep DD's attention long enough to warrant the trouble. If you can get a night flight, it's MUCH better - less stimulating for them so they're more likely to sleep. For what it's worth, I've flown long haul many times with my DD's and Ethihad was far and away the best airline for that!

On my trips overseas and back to Melbourne (14 - 15 hours) with my 1.5 year old I have found that a portable player/laptop playing his favourite shows works wonders. Also bring along some paper/crayons and her favourite toys. I still request for the bassinet even though my LO has trouble fitting into it. Its very helpful when your LO is sleeping and you need to go to the bathroom or have your meal. Other than that LO sleeps with me. Also on the day of flying don't let your LO have her nap and make her move around more so that they are tired and will sleep peacefully on the flight.

Thanks for the reply I have traveled with her before. The longest one being to Turkey. The main problem is she decided to started walking this week and loves the freedom. lol So I have been reading a lot on the internet and just have to realise it is on twenty hours out of my life and just muddle through.
