Hi,

We follow the Australian Immunisation Schedule. This schedule gives the Men-C vaccination at 12 months. However, that is not on the schedule here and I cannot find someone here who gives that vaccine. Anybody out there who has had it done here? There is also a new Men-ACWY vaccine (Menactra) however, Dr's here will not do it under 2 but Dr's in the USA give it from 9 months. Anyone had that vaccine?

What are other aussie's doing? Are you not having the Men-C vaccine? I am very uncomfortable about not having my child immunised with this vaccine.

TIA

thanks maxmistry, that does help. my dr said I would be pushed to find the Men-C vaccine here. they give Menactra routinely at 2 years however my dr said it is safe from 9 months (it is given in the USA from thatage so anyone from the US know about this please respond!) but you have to give two doses of it 3 months apart. I am seeing him tomorrow to find out more but any advice is appreciated.

Hi-I'm a Brit and asked a similar question to my ped as the uk gives meningitis c early and it's late here. He said that the men-c is very rare here so not a concern, the other meningitis jab is more important but it's cant be given to the very young. Does that help at all?
