Hello mums,
Just wondering if anyone can help? I currently live in Muscat and have a 20 month old daughter, she was born in muscat and has had all her vaccines according to the Omani schedule. The only one she is missing is the meningitis-C, this is on the British schedule and I would like her to have it (we are British) in case we ever move back. The hospitals and pharmacies here in muscat are unable to get the vaccine for me, it is one they have stopped giving, so I wondered if I could somehow get it in Dubai?
Would be grateful for any help or advice! Cheers.

Yes it's one dose if the child is over 12 months old not before. This is obviously more convenient if you are getting it done whilst back at home for a holiday, which I did with middle daughter. According to my daughter's Red Book the vaccination programme in the UK includes Men C at 12 weeks, 16 weeks and 12 months. Bless the old NHS though - I sent them into a tizzy about how the heck they should charge for it and then they just ended up doing it for free!

I asked about this vaccine in Dubai for my DD but was told by various doctors, clinics and hospitals that it's not available in Dubai. The reason being because it's not prevalent out here. Of course, you can't always entirely trust what you're told here but I did ask at a number of places such as American hospital, medicentre, etc I ended up getting her vaccinated when I went back to the uk. I think it's in 2 doses which are a certain amount of months apart. But I can't remember exactly how many, sorry! think its only 1 dose
