dd is abt 4 weeks old now.
I think some water collected in her neck during her bath and i dint notice.. anyways, she has a fungal and bacterial infection there according to the doc. Its a spot as big as a AEd1 coin and its red and raw and bleeds a bit when i clean it. Also, there was a pus formation which is why the doc thot there is a bacterial infection as well.
Anyways, she is on canestene mixed with fucidin applied 3 times a day.
We've been at it for 2 days now and its still raw.
I dunno how we can keep it dry since its right inside the folds of her neck.
Any suggestions ladies? Also, can anyone recommend a pediatric dermatologist if there is one?

Hi Shaf! Congrats! Daughters are great! Just a word of advice regarding your daughter's topical skin infection. I would not recommend powder, just the treatment ointment. If you do use powder make sure it has NO cornstarch as cornstarch is food and will feed the yeast, and thus will perpetuate the problem. Yeast loves dark, warm and moist. To fight it you need light, cool and dry. Not easy on a baby's neck. I don't think I even saw my daughters neck til she was 3 months old!!! Good luck to you both and just enjoy her! Same advice regarding powder...

i dont know any pediatric dermetologist but my DDs pediatrician is excellent. Its Dr Nisha Soares at Al Zahra. She is at the Dubai clinic on saturdays and wednesdays.I second Dr Nisha. She is very calm and reassuring!

DD had something similar when she was 5 months old. It was red and raw, but not really that badly infected luckily. The Dr gave me some watery zinc solution to help to keep it dry. It dries off and leaves a white powdery film on the skin. Maybe you can ask your Dr if you can use something similar on top of the cream you have for the fungi and bacteria. Hope your LO gets better quickly!

I can't recommend a doctor but what I do is pat the area dry, ensuring there's no moisture at all, then sprinkle some powder on my fingers and rub it in the area/between the folds etc. Bactroban works great for that type of infection. I would keep the area clean and dry and give it another day or 2 before going back to the GP.

Oh Shaf! Poor baby...i dont know any pediatric dermetologist but my DDs pediatrician is excellent. Its Dr Nisha Soares at Al Zahra. She is at the Dubai clinic on saturdays and wednesdays. I almost pray to her!! If you do go, make sure you call in today and take the first appointment for wednesday. She comes in between 2:30 and 3:00. Best is to get the first appointment to avoid waiting.
