hey, we sent our passport off 3 weeks ago, LO was 1 week old when we did it, I called the passport helpline in uk and they said eyes dont have to be open due to age. I held her up and they air brushed out my hand. really easy. good luck and i still have not gotten my passport back!!!

Hi there. I had to have my son's done before leaving the Uk a few months ago The guidelines for babies have abit of le-way - there eyes do not have to be open ( I read they did - so i called the people who issue the passports and said it was okay to have them closed due to the age) I took my little one to max spielmann - You have to hold them up on a chair but you can keep your hands on them and they will get the pic so your hands are not in view (this is quite cheap also) Hope this helps.

Actually it's not that difficult, please check the latest passport photo guidelines but when we did LO's British passport about 18 months ago, you just had to submit a photo where the baby's mouth was shut, it doesn't matter if there eyes are open or not. So we just had a photo taken with LO asleep in his bassinet. then they put the right background on via photoshop and printed out a bunch of passport photos for us. Of course he is stuck for 5 years with a photo in his passport of him at 8 days old with his eyes shut but apparently that is perfectly acceptable! These days I take my own photos on my camera, and then get the nice man at the Photo Shop by Geant in Ibn Battuta to crop it and make it into a passport photo. yeh my baby had his picture taken at 1 day old, as we had to go back urgently to uk with other boy for urgent medical reasons and it was 12 years ago now but picture was me holding him up so you saw my hands which were cropped they werent too bothered, but he was stuck with that picture for 5 years, i know them in the embassy in auh and asked whether they could just add another picture at 1 years old etc, nope you would need to get a brand new passport, so they are stuck with them!

Does anyone have any tips or ideas how on earth you are meant to take passport photos of a 1week old baby??? Need to get a UK passport for my baby so we can go back to the UK for August? Flights already booked!!!!! just take a picture either holding them up, and crop it or take a picture lying down. i would take pictures until you are happy with eyes open i would say. i hope that you have read the other thread about getting passports renewed etc, i would apply now!

We also had to have open eyes. He was a week old, seven monoths ago, and it was really easy. The Kodak peeps knew what they were doing.

Whe we done ours 2 yrs ago for our new born we were told her eyes had to be open. we layed our littrle one on our bed which was white and took a pic and the photo man from kodak cropped it etc and printed it for us.
