So I've been to NY a million times, on my own, with DH, friends but never with a baby. I'm headed to NYC for a week in May and taking DS (6 months old) with me. Anyone know if it is mandatory for me to have a car seat to take yellow cabs in the city with DS? I'm based fairly centrally in the city so most of the time I"ll be walking, taking bus / subway but for the odd times I may need to take a cab just wanted to see if any mums out there had experience on whether a car seat is mandatory...
The NYC cab website don't offer any advice on the subject.
Thanks a lot

The last time I checked, a couple months ago, taxis are specifically exempt from car seat laws. I don't agree with it and would not risk it knowing how insane NYC cab drivers are. Sit N Stroll is a great idea and if they give you any lip about the meter tell them to stuff it :).

nope you don't need to use one...doesn't mean you shouldn't though...we moved there when DS was 15 months, and ended up using taxi's alot without a car seat, though we would put the safety belt around him The other thing is a sit'n'stroll...not the best stroller, but covers both things - or use a front pack and put the safety belt just around you (baby shouldn't be b/w you and safety belt)
