Hi All,

I need some advice I today had my 7 week scan at conceive and I heard little ones heart beat I know it is early days but I guess i thought I would never get this far so not really thought ahead that much.

I need some advice on how it all works out here and recommendations. Firstly when do you register at a hospital I know I am at conceive at the moment but I think I will only be there until the 12 weeks. So I need some recommendations on who to go and see and what hospitals. I really want a natural birth and want someone who thinks the same way. Also do they have midwives here sorry I sound really silly but I only know how it would work in the uk through friends.

Insurance I am just about to pay for my own health insurance as husbands does not cover me and it is about the same cost as hospital fees so I thought this would make more sense. This covers me for everything i hope (meeting them Thursday) as I am worried if there are problems we wont be able to pay for bills as i am sure they add up very quickly.

Also I don't know many people here even though been here 5 years (long story) but really would like to meet ladies who will be due around my time so we can support each other.

I hope some of you can help me :)

Thanks

Congratulations! :) I'll start at the bottom - start a thread on "due date _____ (insert month)" and you'll find out who else is due around the same time and you can perhaps meet some new mummy's that way. Secondly - choose your hospital/ OB. If you research some threads here to find out who recommends who you'll work out who you might like to go see. I saw Dr Elsa at City Hospital and really respect her knowledge and skills etc - fab Dr. Plenty of others out there. Find out how your insurance will cover and then look at the hospitals and check their individual packages. Midwives are here - but your OB will be the one who delivers your bub (regulations here in UAE). Check with your insurance whether you'll be covered as there tends to be a waiting period for insurance to cover maternity. I can't quote fee's for hospitals etc - but I think the range is around Dh12,000 (natural delivery) - Dh20,000 (c-section). Also - look at registering at Al Wasl for hig risk deliveries. A lot of mum's have delivered there and are happy with their service. HTH
