Thanks girls! Appreciate your feedback. We bought the potty chair and it is now in the bathroom. When I ask her where her potty chair is, she runs into the bathroom and points to it so I guess that is a good start. We still need to introduce the concept of potty so that she understands what she is supposed to do IN the chair. I also got the book "Once Upon a Potty" which I plan to start reading to her soon. As far as naming her privates, most of the stuff I have read as well as chatting with other moms say that we should call it it's actual name as we do with every other part of the body so that no shame is associated with it. That is a totally different discussion! xxx

I wouldn't rush it - it won't happen until she's ready :) Girls are different to boys tho and each child is different as to when they're ready... try and if it doesn't work - wait a little while before trying again. I have a friend with girls and they call their "privates" their "flowers" which is quite a lovely little analogy I think! :)

Hi ladies, hope you can offer some good advice as you usually do! What age do you think is the best time? My little one is almost 17 months old and although I think she is still too young, I would like to start introducing the concept of going potty to her. Also, I have NO idea what to call her Private parts! What do you guys call it? Wee Wee or Pee Pee sounds boyish to me. Someone suggested "my private", but not sure I like that either. For the record, I can not remember for the life of me what I called it growing up! Thanks! Hi JAXUSA my daughter is 17months old & I have a potty upstairs that she plays with - she puts things in it & sometimes sits on it & today for the first time she actually did a wee in it - I was so excited & we hi fived & she laughed & was so pleased with herself but I agree she is too young & today was just pure luck but I think she is getting the idea... my eldest daughter was potty trained at 2years - it was so easy & quick - just wait for your daughter to show you signs... my 17month old comes to me when she has down a poo & points to her nappy so I'm sure she will be ready by the time she is 2 to be potty trained. As for her private parts - we call it a fanny... Good luck with the potty training!!!!!
