Hi all,
Have been having headaches on and off since the beginning of my pregnancy (I am almost 16 weeks) but they have been getting particularly bad the last week or 10 days. Before, they seemed to be related to tiredness but recently I am getting lots of sleep and I am still suffering from bad headaches.... the past few days they have been lasting from late morning for the rest of the day.
I spoke with the Dr and she said to try to drink more fluids (am already drinking up to 2L - 2.5L) but she said I should try to aim at 3L per day.
I will not take any medication for anything during pregnancy but does anyone have any suggestions please? They have been pretty bad the past week or so...
TIA!

the only medication you can safely take is panadol (parecetamol) but I know how you feel, I don't like taking even that. I found that hot/cold wheat/gel packs can help, and massage to your neck and face. Avoiding sudden temperature changes (running in and out of air conditioning) and not getting too hungry helps too. 3L a day is too much fluid to be honest, if you drink that much you will eat less as a result and your baby will lose out on nutrition, ignore your Dr on that one, even 2 L is a lot and if you are drinking that much water already then it is definitely not a dehydration headache. You need to sip small amounts of water throughout the day as if you drink a lot at one time you will simply pee it all out again. Avoid salty and sugary food as well as caffeine, and maybe get your blood sugar levels tested and your blood pressure too. The headaches are usually just hormonal though, mine seemed to stop a little after 20 weeks.

Hi Tia... Same here... I am now 15 weeks and 1 day and frequently suffering from a very bad headache... Been like this two weeks ago.. And everytime I have it I really need to throw up then have a nap to ease the feeling... I didn't take any medications... I am using my menthol stick to rub on my head and neck and it will give me some relief.. Though need to check this with my doctor if this is ok or not... Wish this headache stops soon..
