I just moved to Dubai 2 months ago with my husband and two small boys. I just found out that I am pregnant again - oops! - and am worried because I don't have insurance. I've read lots of older threads about this and am just wondering if anyone has gone through this recently. It looks like Al Wasl package is 5000AED for antenatal care and 7000 for NVD, is this payable up front? I am freaking out a bit and would love to talk to someone with a similar experience.

Yes the 5000aed for antenatal care is payable upfront you can no longer pay as you go. When you arrive to deliver you pay a deposit and then the balance when you are discharged. There is a company here tha gives loans for medical purposes, don't know what the terms are but may work better than paying all that cash up front.

Congratulations! I was in a similiar situation albeit in 2007. I went to Al Wasl for ante-natal care and just paid each time. I did not deliver there, as returned home, so did not purchase a package. I even attended the emergency department at Al Wasl and do not recall paying anything.
