Nursery rang up today to say that someone in my son's class is infected with lice and that I should wash my son's hair with Para- is this really necessary/helpful if I don't see any signs of lice?

Life pharmacy has tea tree shampoo I use it on my kids, also try brushing with a lice comb, if he does end up with lice then u may have to go for a round of para. absolutely get a lice comb - the metal one is the best. Comb it while their hair is wet and dip it in a bowl of hot water so you can see what's coming out of it

I think you can get tea tree oil from the pharmacy. I used to to killl lice as my girls had an infestation - wasn't fun, I can tell you!! I mixed it with about 5 drops with about 100 ml Listerine, 3 drops of lavender and 100mlwater. Spritzed it in the hair, it smells lovely, and made my apartment smell so nice!! I've heard they also hate the smell of coconut, so coconut shampoo or coconut oil maybe.

Tea tree and lavender are meant to prevent lice as they hate the smell. Maybe try making a soray solution with drops of the essential oils and water and spritz the hair with it. edited by Sugarbeach on 20/11/2011
