Water baby i have the angel care monitor and use it without the pad now- DS is a year old.
personally i thought it was great and it was just that extra peace of mind for my husband and i. we used it until baby was 7 months- it was only then that he started rolling off of it during the night.. before that we only had 2 incidents where he rolled off of it in the night...
you can get the angelcare with the video monitor too so you dont have to have 2 monitors.
Hi Water Baby,
Why are you considering buying one to begin with? I also got the motorola monitor and decided against those with sensor pads etc because from my research I found that they often give false alarms and panicking in the middle of the night about my baby breathing did not seem healthy to me. As long your baby sleeps in a safe environment and in your bedroom until he/she is I'd say about 6 months old you should have nothing to worry about. SIDS is extremely rare as it is, and there is no clear explanation of what might cause it (other than an unsafe environment of course, if the baby gets stuck between the mattress and the bed frame or an adults rolls over it while sleeping etc then the cause is quite obvious), so I'd say don't worry about it unecessarily. Btw, the simpler the sleeping arrangement, the better, these cots/moses baskets, bumpers etc we use can be quite risky for a young baby with no neck control. I read an interesting article about babies in Finland sleeping in cardboard boxes with a mattress at the bottom of course; to be honest it's super safe if you think about it and it is considered one of the reasons the country's infant mortality rate is close to zero (from about 20% in the '60s). Have a look at the Snuza one. Don't have one myself but they look great and have super reviews...http://www.justkidding-me.com/en/eshop/product,snuza.html
Hi everyone,
We've bought a video baby monitor (the Motorola MBP36), but are also wondering about getting a movement monitor to hopefully reduce the risk of SIDS...
Do you have any recommendations for a particular model, and did you get it here in Dubai or online?
Thanks so much :)
