SOS-baba not taking the bottle AT ALL!!! Can I do it like this???
I am back to work and 6month old little guy (of my Gosh, can believe I just wrote 6 MONTHS!!!) is going to nursery in the mornings only. He was exclusively bf before and had a bottle once in a blue moon. Now he just would not take it at all. We started solids a few weeks back and he seems to be enjoying the experience, the food, playing with his spoon, etc. On the recommendation of our doc, he is given the solids while at nursery and gets boob only when with me. So, so far he was happy taking the solids at nursery but will not have the bottle.
My Mum recommended that if he likes "to eat" let him eat; mix a bit rice cereal with the milk and give it to him with the spoon. This way he will not go hungry, will still get breast-milk even if I'm not there, the tad bit of extra food provided by the cereal will keep him happy just a bit longer and this way he deff. will not go off boob/ nipple confusion, etc. So we tried this today at home and it worked like magic. Happy baba, happy mama.
My question is: Is it OK to do it this way or have I just broken some (to me) unknown feeding "rule"?
